Breathwork is a POWERFUL practice to transform consciousness on a physical level. It is a natural, safe and organic way to experience altered states of consciousness- providing spiritual awakening, healing, creativity, expanded awareness and greater health and wellbeing. Breathing is the only autonomous system of the body that we can also control. This means we breathe unconsciously, but we can also consciously take control of our breathe any time we choose. Ancient yogis called this pranayama. Because of this unique dynamic, our breath is an indicator of our state of mind, and our state of mind is also an indicator of our breath. We can change our mind states with our breath by taking control and breathing consciously. Our Breath is our Life Force. We can live for weeks without food, days without water, but only minutes without breathing. Many Eastern cultures have long recognized the connection between the breath and the mind. Breathwork is a healing modality that utilizes conscious breathing techniques to integrate emotional and physical suppression and trauma. This promotes healing and integration, often very quickly because it works on an energetic level rather than processing mentally. Breathwork can be used alone or works well to support traditional talk therapy.
